Aug 2 Montage

Got to Montage around 9am and surf was low. A bit of white caps around the coves but no big waves. Walked to the far left and entered the water in 0ft of surf. Surface temp was around 72F and viz from the surface was about 10ft+. Inside the inner cove, we saw at least 7 to 9 4ft+ bat ray resting on the bottom at around 19ft of water. My guess was that they were doing their summer morning cleaning because lots of smaller fish picking things from their backs. Visibility was a good 15ft with 1-3ft surge. On our way back to the main beach, we were visited by a 4ft seal. At one point, my buddy told me the seal swam side by side with me and I didn’t know it was there. Surge was strong by the larger structures but we were able to move in slowly to explore a few crevices and over hangs.
